This bike was painted before I went full time and the details of how it all came about are a bit foggy now, but it was my first full streetfighter job and I'm still proud of the artwork on it.
The owner provided me with an image of a girl drawn in the Mange style and I was asked to make this the centrepiece of the scheme. I basecoated the entire bike in a metallic blue and then recreated the girl on the petrol tank using airbrushing and handpainting. It really came together nicely and acts as a great focal point for the bike.
Once the girl was completed I decided to work a bio-mechanical scheme over the rest of the bike working outwards from the petrol tank.
This isn't just an ordinary Bandit - it's a 1300 as opposed to the original 1200 and I don't think there's a single thing that hasn't been painted, coated, plated, replaced or tinkered with in some way. It was only when all the panels were refitted that I could see the whole effect and I was certainly really pleased with my part in it, never mind the customer.
The customer's wife has just been back in touch after I'd not heard from them for a while to let me know that the bike is still looking excellent and that it has now been passed into the hands of the son. If you're round the Lancashire area then you may well run into it.
