Dave, the owner of this Yamaha Dragstar 650 saw my work at a bike show in Halifax and asked me to reproduce the painting from an ornamental plate he has at home onto the petrol tank. The design lent itself well to the petrol tank, fading out to the edges and really looking nice.
They sky was freehand airbrushed on first of all, then the landscape was masked off and airbrushed before the detail of the rocks and teepees was handpainted on.
The basic shapes of the girl were individully masked up and aibrushed on and then the fine detail was handpainted in.
The final stage of the job was to get Steve Edwards to clearcoat and polish the petrol tank before it was refitted to the bike by the owner. A straightforward but effective job.
